Ikea is fun

I’m an IT consultant who decided to go back to school and study International Relations while working. After 2 years at a junior college I transferred to San Francisco State University, and was selected to study abroad at the Universiteit van Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

What a fantastic experience!  After a year I returned to the SF bay area to wrap up school and continue work, but Amsterdam wasn’t very far away from my thoughts.  I saved up money, began taking Dutch lessons, and applied to UvA in the hopes of more adventures in Holland.  In the end, things worked out better than expected:  I was accepted to the program and ended up falling in love with my Dutch tutor (who, thankfully, was also on her way back home!).

I began keeping this blog to serve as a personal journal for me to look back on, a method of staying in touch with friends back home (and sharing my experiences).  At first that worked well, but eventually other priorities crept in and the blog became rather stale.  Now that I’m back abroad I’m hoping that I can at least make occasional updates for the folks back home.
